Review Hellfire&Tinsel

Oh my goodness, I just finished reading Hellfire & Tinsel and I'm still buzzing! A.M. Rose has completely charmed me with this sweet, heartwarming story. The premise – a lonely boy summoning a demon for a friend – is delightfully quirky, and the execution is just perfect. I loved the contrast between Beau's gentle, vulnerable nature and Kassel's initially gruff, emotionally stunted demon persona. Watching their relationship blossom was pure joy; it felt genuine and earned, free from any frustrating tropes like cheating or unnecessary possessiveness. The romance was slow-burn and deliciously tender, focusing on emotional connection rather than graphic sex scenes (though there are a few tastefully done intimate moments). The heat level was a perfect 2.5 for me – enough to feel the connection without overshadowing the heartwarming aspects of the story.

What really tugged at my heartstrings was Beau's backstory. While it's dealt with relatively concisely, the glimpses we get of his difficult childhood with neglectful parents and foster families were powerful enough to leave a lasting impact. It beautifully highlighted his innate kindness and resilience, making his eventual happiness all the more satisfying. It’s the kind of "well-earned HEA" I adore – not because he suffered endlessly, but because his inherent goodness shines through despite his hardships. The author expertly balances the emotional weight with lighter, humorous moments. I found myself chuckling at Kassel's bewildered reactions to human emotions and customs, and the interactions between the characters were consistently engaging and fun.

The dual POV was a fantastic choice, offering valuable insight into both Beau and Kassel's perspectives. We get to witness Kassel's slow awakening to his own feelings and the gradual softening of his initially harsh exterior, a transformation that is believable and deeply moving. The supporting characters from the first book also make delightful reappearances, adding depth and continuity to the series. And let's not forget the adorable, albeit mischievous, twins – I'm already eagerly anticipating their story!

Seriously, I cried. Several times. Beau's loneliness resonated deeply with me, and the way Kassel’s presence slowly fills that void is both incredibly touching and incredibly satisfying. The Christmas setting adds a lovely layer of warmth and festivity to the narrative, making the entire story feel cozy and comforting, even amidst the heavier moments.

The pacing was just right, keeping me hooked from beginning to end. While I wouldn't mind longer books in the series, the length felt appropriate for the story being told, and I never felt rushed. While I'm not typically a fan of MMM romances, the way the author has crafted this world and these characters makes me genuinely excited to see what's next. Hellfire & Tinsel is a truly special story – a perfect blend of humor, heart, and heartwarming romance that left me feeling warm and fuzzy inside. Highly recommended!
